Some Lavender have just as much appeal for their foliage as their flowers. This is a perfect example. Its leaves are fuzzy silver/green with tooth-cut edges. The flowers are bold 4-6" spikes of deep purple that continue for most and summer and early autumn. This one boasts true multi-season appeal.
French Lavender (Lavandula dentat or Lavandula x ginginsii) boast tooth-cut foliage and tall spike-shaped flowers that typically come in shades of soft purple. Native to areas of the Mediterranean and parts of the Arabian Peninsula, it likes it hot and dry with somewhat alkaline soils. If you can keep them happy, though, they'll bloom for months!
